Valter Longo

Valter D. Longo (born October 9, 1967) is an Italian-American biogerontologist and cell biologist known for his research on aging, nutrition, and fasting. He is currently a professor at the University of Southern California (USC), where he serves as the director of the USC Longevity Institute.

Longo's research focuses on the fundamental mechanisms of aging and how dietary interventions, particularly fasting and calorie restriction, can influence health and longevity. He has developed the Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD), which aims to provide the benefits of fasting while still supplying essential nutrients. His work has implications for various age-related diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
